Social Distancing at Hickory View Farms

Social Distancing at Hickory View Farms

Amidst this peculiar time of social distancing, we here at Hickory View Farms wanted to reach out to each of you and to let you know that we are still here for you!  As Jonathan and I both work in healthcare, we are considered essential to some degree.  Jonathan is blessed to still be working Monday through Friday at the hospital, even though his days are spent doing different things related to the COVID-19 outbreak.  And being that I, Janna, work in the recovery room and all elective surgeries have been postponed at this time, am finding myself working in a different capacity as a nurse throughout the hospital, including some night shifts.

Through this challenging time we wanted to let you all know that we are still continuing to sell our meat, we just practice social distancing upon delivery.  So if you are local to Union County and find yourself wanting some naturally raised beef or pork to get you through this time where you may be home and cooking more, head on over to our website www.hickoryviewfarms.com to peruse our selection of beef and pork cuts to place your order.

We are also beginning to work on our 2020 butchering schedule for beef shares.  At this point in time we plan on butchering monthly from June through September.  If you are interested in purchasing a beef share (quarter, half, or whole) head on over to the website and place your order to ensure that your share is reserved!  We would be more than happy to answer any questions related to purchasing a share so please reach out to us and ask!  We are well aware that it can be somewhat confusing if you are a first time beef share customer but we get really excited about new customers.

As for the flowers, we are getting ready for a big year of expansion and learning; we can’t wait for you to join us for this adventure.  We have all but one packet of seeds that were ordered (hoping that last packet will still make it, but it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t).  We also have an order of plants that have been started for us by a commercial grower that will be ready for us to pick up in the last week of April.  We are hoping that the weather starts to turn a little so that we can start working in our beds and getting them ready to be planted in the end of April and beginning of May.  I am going to try my best to use social media to include you in our growing process, so please stay tuned to Facebook and Instagram for stories of when we are working in the garden to see what all we are doing and to watch our garden evolve.

As we hinted at before, this year is going to be a big year for Hickory View Farms.  We are in the process of purchasing land which will allow for us to expand our flower growing ability and will also open up different avenues when it comes to raising livestock.  With the Coronavirus outbreak, a lot of things relating to the closing have been delayed so at this point we don’t have an exact time frame for when we will own the land, but we will be sure to keep all of you, our valued followers, informed.  We don’t know exactly how the land will be used for Hickory View Farms, but we sure do have some big dreams and plans.  So stay tuned and follow along to be a part of this journey with us!

Remember, stay safe, wash your hands, don’t touch your face, practice social distancing, and make sure to enjoy each day for it is a truly a gift from God!
